It was on Sept. 14, 1990 when GMC took a special, all-out performance vehicle called Syclone to the salt flats and ran it to 210.069 mph, becoming the first truck in history to break the 200 mph barrier in the flying mile.

Soon after, in January 1991, the production version came out, equipped with an all-wheel-drive system and 4.3-liter V-6 that produced 280 horsepower, thanks to a Mitsubishi TD06-17C turbocharger along with a Garrett intercooler system.
