Wisconsin’s Iola Car Show Launches Official State License Plate June 9

The Iola Car Show has announced the official release of the new Iola Car Show Special Group License Plate through the State of Wisconsin, available to the public beginning June 9, 2026.
The specialty plate represents years of work and overwhelming support from the Iola community and automotive enthusiasts across Wisconsin, event officials stated in a press release. Developed in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), the plate celebrates one of the nation’s largest and most recognized automotive events while also supporting the future of the nonprofit organization behind it.
The project first gained momentum following strong public interest and a successful signature campaign led by supporters of the show, noted the release. After moving through the approval process, the final design was selected with direct input from the public, helping create a plate that’s attractive and reflects both the history of the Iola Car Show and the spirit of the collector car hobby.
“We wanted this plate to feel like more than just another registration option,” said Iola Car Show executive director Joe Opperman. “This is something people can proudly display on their vehicles while also helping support the future of the show and the nonprofit organizations connected to it.”
In addition to standard registration fees and issuance costs established by WisDOT, each Iola plate includes a $25 annual donation that directly supports the charitable mission of the Iola Old Car Show Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. Those funds help support the show’s ongoing improvements, youth programs, community initiatives, and more than 120 volunteer and nonprofit groups connected to the event.
The Iola Car Show has contributed more than $10 million back to community organizations and volunteer groups since becoming a nonprofit, making the specialty plate another meaningful way for enthusiasts to help preserve and grow the tradition for future generations, officials said.
The plates will officially become available beginning June 9, 2026, through the Wisconsin DMV Special License Plate program.
