Valvoline Global, Blood Cancer United & Hendrick Motorsports Team Up in the Fight Against Pediatric Blood Cancer

New NASCAR paint scheme on William Byron’s No. 24 Chevrolet becomes a symbol of hope during Blood Cancer Awareness Month…

Valvoline Global, Hendrick Motorsports and Blood Cancer United, formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, are teaming up to bring awareness to pediatric blood cancer. In a unique collaboration for Blood Cancer Awareness Month, the partners have unveiled a one-of-a-kind paint scheme on NASCAR Cup Series Regular Season Champion William Byron’s No. 24 Valvoline Chevrolet ahead of its debut at the ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, officials stated in a press release.

“Together, we are truly unstoppable in our mission to create a brighter future for children with blood cancer,” said E. Anders Kolb, MD, president and chief executive officer at Blood Cancer United. “With the support of our partner, Valvoline Global, and in collaboration with Hendrick Motorsports, we are able to share our message of hope with millions of fans around the world and drive forward our shared goal of a better tomorrow.”

Byron, Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick and vice chairman Jeff Gordon joined patients and their families at the Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the official unveiling of the car design and celebrated the local children responsible for the inspiring artwork.

Adorned with unicorns, confetti and other imaginative designs created by four pediatric blood cancer survivors, this one-of-a-kind NASCAR paint scheme serves as a symbol of courage and resilience as part of Blood Cancer United’s advancement of its Dare to Dream Project, a $175 million initiative to transform treatment and care for children with blood cancer.

Later this month, the No. 24 Valvoline Chevrolet show car will also make a stop at Valvoline Global’s Lexington, Kentucky, headquarters to celebrate the company’s support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s new name, Blood Cancer United, and the organization’s Dare to Dream Project. The event will give employees the opportunity to rally behind the cause and Valvoline Global’s efforts to help create brighter futures for children with blood cancer, noted the release.

“At Valvoline Global, we are driven by our enduring purpose to inspire and enable what—and who—moves the world forward,” said Jamal Muashsher, Valvoline Global chief executive officer. “Our work with Blood Cancer United is a testament to this commitment, and we are honored to continue supporting this worthy cause to create a better tomorrow for these children and their families.”

The No. 24 Symbol of Hope & the four Honored Heroes at the ROVAL 400

On Oct. 5, the campaign will culminate at the ROVAL 400, where Byron will take the wheel of this symbol of hope. The Charlotte native will be joined at the track by the four Honored Heroes—the pediatric blood cancer survivors who contributed to the No. 24 Valvoline Chevrolet’s new paint scheme—who are being hosted by Valvoline Global to experience the race firsthand and see their artwork brought to life.

“This paint scheme is more than just colors on a race car—it represents courage, hope and the incredible spirit of the young patients who created it,” said Byron, who is a two-time DAYTONA 500 winner. “Carrying their artwork at my hometown race, with a partner like Valvoline Global that is dedicated to such an important cause, makes it even more special. We’re fortunate to have a world-class facility like Levine Children’s Hospital here in Charlotte, but not every family has that kind of access. Our team is proud to shine a light on the fight against pediatric blood cancer and celebrate these inspiring kids.”
