UAW, Automakers Continue Contract Negotiations
The United Auto Workers (UAW) union is continuing negotiations with the three major American automakers, according to a report from Reuters.
According to the Reuters report, the union made a labor contract counterproposal on economic issues to Ford, while Stellantis and General Motors are set to make counteroffers this week.
The current four-year labor agreement, which impacts 146,000 workers across the three manufacturers, is set to expire on Sept. 14. The UAW has said 97% of members voted in favor of authorizing a strike if agreement is not reached.
