1960 Willys Wagon Sale Nets 6 Scholarships for Piston Foundation
The Piston Foundation, a nonprofit with the aim of introducing young people to the trades of the collector car industry, earned $31,500 in a recent charity auction for its Cars for Piston Scholars campaign with Bring a Trailer, the foundation announced.
The auction of the 1960 Willys Wagon raised $31,500, good for six scholarships, the organization said. The Foundation is aiming to award 50 scholarships in 2023. Ten inaugural scholarships were awarded in 2022.
In the first charity auction, in March, of a 1973 Datsun 240Z, the Piston Foundation earned $135,753, enough to award 27 Piston Foundation Scholarships.
The Willys Wagon was donated by Adam Pitale of Adam’s Polishes, and bidding took place from July 12 to July 19. One hundred percent of the auction price and the buyer’s fee were donated to the scholarship program, to maximize the positive impact of each auction, the foundation said.
