KPI – September 2026: Recent Vehicle Recalls

2022-26 Rivian R1S & 2027 R2 SUVs, 2022-27 R1T Trucks

Vehicles Affected: Rivian is recalling more than 98,800 EVs, including model-year 2022-26 R1S SUVs, 2022-27 R1T trucks and 2027 R2 SUVs.

The Problem: According to the electric vehicle maker, the rearview camera image may be obstructed by a notification when in reverse, thereby decreasing driver visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Rivian released an over-the-air software update for free and will begin notifying owners Nov. 9.

2025 Volkswagen Tiguan

Vehicles Affected: Volkswagen is recalling nearly 50,000 model-year 2025 Tiguan SUVs.

The Problem: According to the automaker, a software error may cause the system to reset and result in a number of issues. The ignition may switch off and cause an engine stall, or an error may cause a loss of warning lights, exterior lighting or a failure of the rearview camera system. In all of these scenarios, there is an increased risk of crash.

The Fix: Dealers will update the body control module software for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 6.

2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, 2018-19 Volkswagen Atlas & 2019-21 Audi Q3

Vehicles: Volkswagen is recalling more than 208,700 vehicles, including 2018 Tiguan and 2018-19 Atlas SUVs, as well as 2019-21 Audi Q3s.

The Problem: According to the automaker, one of the bolts that attaches the steering rack to the subframe may break due to corrosion, thereby causing the steering-rack housing to break. A broken steering-rack housing can cause loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the right-side steering-rack mounting bolt for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 10.

2024-25 Buick Envista, 2024-26 Buick Encore GX, 2024-26 Chevrolet Trailblazer & 2025 Chevrolet Trax SUVs

Vehicles Affected: GM is recalling more than 306,500 Buick 2024-25 Envistas and 2024-26 Encore GXs, as well as Chevrolet 2024-26 Trailblazers and 2025 Trax SUVs.

The Problem: According to the automaker, the rearview camera screen may display a distorted or blank image, thereby decreasing the driver’s rear visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary and for free. GM began notifying owners Sept. 16.

Stellantis Recalls Jeep Wagoneers

Vehicles Affected: Parent company Stellantis is recalling more than 97,300 vehicles, including model-year 2022-25 Wagoneers, 2023-25 Wagoneer Ls, 2022-26 Grand Wagoneers and 2023-26 Grand Wagoneer Ls.

The Problem: According to the automaker, the pivot bolts for the roof-rack crossbars may be improperly tightened, thereby allowing them to detach and become a road hazard.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the roof-rack crossbar pivot bolts for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed Oct. 8.

2023-27 Ford F-150

Vehicles Affected: Ford is recalling more than 223,400 model-year 2023-27 F-150s.

The Problem: According to the automaker, the fuel tank in these vehicles may not be properly secured and may leak fuel or detach while the vehicle is in motion. A fuel leak can cause the engine to stall, thereby increasing the risk of a fire. Likewise, the detachment of the fuel tank can create a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel tank straps as necessary and for free. Owner notification letters began mailing Sept. 21.
