KPI — June: Recent Vehicle Recalls

2011-2015 Ford and Lincoln Cars, SUVs and Vans

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2.15 million model-year 2011-2014 Ford Fiesta cars, model-year 2013-2014 Fusion sedans, model-year 2015 Mustang coupes, model-year 2013-2015 Escape SUVs and C-Max hatchbacks, model-year 2012-2015 Focus cars, 2014-2016 Transit Connect vans, model-year 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ sedans and model-year 2015 MKC SUVs, all previously recalled

• The Problem: A component within the door latches may break. This makes the doors difficult to latch or leads an occupant to believe a door is securely closed when it isn’t, which increases the risk of injury. Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

• The Fix: Dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly and replace the side door latches, if necessary, for free. Owners also have the option to inspect their own door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct.

2013-2018 Nissan Altima

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1.8 million model-year 2013-2018 Nissan Altima sedans

• The Problem: The secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed. If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch isn’t engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, which increases the risk of a crash. Nissan said these cars were included in two previous recalls from 2014 and 2015, but the previous remedy plan may not have been performed consistently to remove the safety risk.

• The Fix: Dealers will replace the hood latch with a new one for free.

2014-2017 Ford F-150

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 292,000 model-year 2014-2017 Ford F-150 pickup trucks equipped with the EcoBoost 3.5-liter engine

• The Problem: The brake master cylinder may leak brake fluid into the brake booster, which may result in a change in brake pedal travel and feel. This increases pedal effort and reduces front brake function, possibly requiring greater effort and distance to stop the truck and thereby increasing the risk of a crash. Ford said it is aware of seven low-speed/low-impact accident allegations and two injuries associated with the issue.

• The Fix: Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder and inspect the brake booster, replacing it, as necessary, for free.

Mitsubishi Sedans, Hatchbacks and SUVs

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 141,200 model-year 2008-2010 Mitsubishi Lancer sedans, model-year 2010 Lancer Sportback hatchbacks, model-year 2008-2013 Outlander SUVs and model-year 2011-2016 Outlander Sport SUVs originally sold or registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin

• The Problem: The front lower control arms may detach due to the front cross-member corroding from salt water exposure, which can result in a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.

• The Fix: Dealers will inspect the front cross-members and, depending on the level of corrosion, either apply a sealing/anti-corrosion agent or replace the front cross-member with a new one that has a sealing/anti-corrosion agent applied to it. Both repairs will be done for free.

Acura and Honda Cars and SUVs

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 136,000 model-year 2018-2019 Acura NSX sports cars and model-year 2019 RDX SUVs, RLX and RLX Sport Hybrid sedans; model-year 2018-2019 Honda Accord sedans, Civic cars, HR-V SUVs; model-year 2019 Fit hatchbacks; and model-year 2019-2020 Insight hybrids

• The Problem: The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail, which can cause the engine to stall while driving and increase the risk of a crash.

• The Fix: Dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly for free.

2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 67,200 model-year 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee SUVs equipped with a two-speed power transfer unit

• The Problem: Relative movement in the PTU between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may ultimately mean power can’t be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission. This could result in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary, increasing the risk of a crash without prior warning as well as an unintended vehicle rollaway.

• The Fix: Dealers will perform a software update by engaging rear-wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. The repairs will be done for free.

2020 Mazda CX-30, Mazda3

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 24,000 model-year 2020 Mazda CX-30 SUVs and Mazda3 sedans and hatchbacks

• The Problem: The front brake caliper mounting bolts may not have been tightened properly during assembly, possibly allowing the calipers to loosen, which can reduce braking performance or interfere with wheel rotation and increase the risk of a crash.

• The Fix: Dealers will inspect the front brake caliper bolts, tightening them as necessary and replacing calipers with missing bolts, for free.

2020 Mazda CX-30

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 12,100 model-year 2020 Mazda CX-30 SUVs equipped with all-wheel drive

• The Problem: The evaporative vent hose for the fuel tank may be disconnected, possibly allowing fuel to leak from the charcoal canister vent at the rear of the vehicle, which in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, the engine may stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

• The Fix: Dealers will inspect the evaporative vent hose in the fuel tank. If the hose is disconnected, it will be reconnected and the charcoal canister with some related parts will be replaced. All repairs will be done for free.

2019-2020 Mitsubishi Outlander, Outlander PHEV

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 3,200 model-year 2019-2020 Mitsubishi Outlander SUVs and model-year 2019 Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid SUVs

• The Problem: The seat belt for the right-side second-row seat may have been assembled incorrectly and may not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

• The Fix: Dealers will inspect the right side, second-row seat belt and replace it, as necessary, for free.

2019-2020 Audi A6, A6 Allroad, Q3, Q7

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 3,200 model-year 2019 Audi Q3 SUVs and model-year 2020 Audi A6 sedans, A6 Allroad wagons and A7 hatchbacks

• The Problem: The passenger airbag may not properly deploy through the instrument panel tear seam, which could cause small plastic parts to enter the cabin and increase the risk of injury.

• The Fix: Dealers will replace the instrument panels for free.

2020 Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG Cars and SUVs

• Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1,300 model-year 2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans and wagons and GLC-Class SUVs, as well as model-year 2020 Mercedes-AMG E63 S, GT 53 and GT 63 sedans and GLC SUVs equipped with rear seatbacks that can be electronically unlatched

• The Problem: The left rear seatback latch may not be strong enough to withstand certain loads, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

• The Fix: Dealers will replace the left rear seatback for free.
