Autoblog has reported that Volvo is releasing a new infotainment platform that will be made available to new and recently produced models. The Google produced system has been officially rolled out in the new EX90 EV.
The new system is being made available for all Volvo models going back to 2020, in a step not often seen from automakers. The new system can be upgraded via an over-the-air update for Volvo models with Google software.
The new site noted this is one of the most comprehensive infotainment updates by any carmaker to date and believes the update will affect more than 2.5 million models worldwide.
The manufacturer has not noted any associated costs with the new update, leading Autoblog to report the new software will be made available for free.
