Virginia to Exempt Antique Vehicles from Exhaust Requirements

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam signed a bill into law that will exclude antique motor vehicles from needing an exhaust system “in good working order to prevent excessive or unusual levels of noise,” according to SEMA Action Network (SAN). Antique motor vehicles are defined as vehicles 25 years old or older.

The former law only excluded only antique motor vehicles made prior to 1950 from such requirements, and only allows an exhaust system originally installed by the manufacturer or equivalent.
