Toyota TRD President David Wilson Announces Retirement

According to a new report from motorsport.com, Toyota Racing Division President David Wilson has announced his retirement at the end of the 2024 NASCAR season. Current general manager of TRD Tyler Gibbs was named as Wilson’s replacement and will take over the position on Dec. 15.

In 35 years with the racing team, Wilson has worked in many positions including track design engineer and track support engineer. Wilson was appointed as president of TRD in January 2014. Under Wilson’s tenure the brand has won championships in various racing series including: Grand-AM, IMSA, NASCAR, NHRA and many more.

Wilson also assisted with wins individual races like the Baja 500 & 1000, Petit Le Mans and The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. 

Gibbs joined TRD in 1996 and has also worked at various roles within the organization over the past 35 years.
