Toyota Launches Program to Retrofit Late-Model Cars with New Features

Toyota is launching a new program in Japan called Kinto Factory, which offers to retrofit older models with newer technology, according to AutoBlog.

Kinto Factory will initially offer two basic services: upgrading and remodeling. Upgrading will include retrofitting safety and convenience functions. Remodeling will serve to replace worn or damaged parts.

While not yet available in the U.S., Toyota is open to expanding the program overseas, the report said.
