Official manufacturer of classic Shelby continuation cars Superformance recently added its 15th dealership in the United States. Down Force Motorsports near Columbia, South Carolina, will sell all-new Superformance MKIII and Shelby Cobras, Shelby Daytona Coupes, and first-generation Shelby GT40s. Although these cars are based on the original 1960’s designs and dimensions, they are assembled with modern steering, brakes, suspension.
“Becoming a Superformance dealer is a long-time dream come true,” says Down Force Motorsports president Dan Long. “I was fortunate to manage a Superformance dealership in Phoenix about 15 years ago, prior to opening Down Force Motorsports. This Superformance opportunity brings everything full-circle.”
In the 4,000 square-foot Down Force Motorsports showroom, both ready-to-drive and custom-configured Shelby continuation cars will be available. Period-correct high-performance engines from well-respected companies such as Roush Performance, Ford Performance, Blue Print Engines and Carroll Shelby Engine Company are popular choices, as are the later fuel-injected Ford Coyote crate-engine V-8s.
The officially licensed, all-new Superformance cars are the only Cobras to carry continuation Shelby “CSX” VIN numbers and are eligible for the Shelby Registry.
“We are excited to welcome Dan Long and Down Force Motorsports to the Superformance family and Shelby Legendary Cars Team,” said Superformance CEO Lance Stander. “We enjoyed working with Dan previously and look forward to helping him expand the legendary Shelby automotive legacy -“ which will be well-known globally in a few weeks when the Ford v. Ferrari movie debuts.
