Subaru of America Inc. announced that Carey Lando and Andrea Shaffer will return to the Rebelle Rally in 2026, driving a specially prepared 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid and competing as Team 200 in the X-Cross class. Lando and Shaffer claimed the X-Cross class win in 2025 behind the wheel of the Forester Hybrid.
The Rebelle Rally challenges teams across more than 1,500 miles of desert terrain using traditional maps, compass and roadbooks, without GPS or electronic navigation.
Inside the Modified Subaru Forester Hybrid Rally Build
For 2026, Team 200 will again compete in a modified 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid built to demonstrate the capabilities of an AWD crossover in demanding terrain, according to a company press release. The vehicle features a 3-inch suspension lift via RaceWorks coil-overs and RalliTEK adjustable arms, 30-inch Milestar Patagonia A/T Pro tires, underbody protection from Anderson Design & Fabrication, a TORQ locker, recovery equipment, Diode Dynamics auxiliary lighting and additional modifications.
“Part of what makes the Rebelle so compelling is that it rewards thoughtful driving, preparation, teamwork and good decision-making rather than outright speed,” Lando said. “The Forester Hybrid is such an interesting vehicle for this challenge because it lets us explore what a hybrid crossover can do when you take it well beyond where people expect to see one. We want to show that a hybrid can do hard things too.”
Their 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid has already tackled many iconic western trails, including Hell’s Revenge in Moab, Utah, as well as Black Bear Pass and Imogene Pass in Colorado, the release noted.
Supporting Women in Motorsports
Team 200 selected The Bluebird Fund as its nonprofit beneficiary for the 2026 Rebelle Rally. The organization works to expand access and opportunity in motorsports through grants supporting safety, development and participation, including opportunities for women in motorsport.
The 2026 Rebelle Rally runs Oct. 7-17, 2026. Fans can follow Team 200 and the competition through Subaru, MtnSubi and Rebelle Rally channels.
