SRO America to Sanction Toyota GR Cup

SRO America will sanction Toyota’s new single make racing series, the GR Cup, the organization revealed.

Announced earlier this spring, the GR Cup will host 14 events at seven circuits across the United States and feature a modified GR86, the automaker said.

The stock GR86 will be modified for GR Cup competition at TRD’s new facility in Mooresville, North Carolina. Here it will be fitted with Bosch engine management, custom Borla exhaust, SADEV 6-speed sequential transmission, Alcon brakes, JRI adjustable shocks, OMP safety equipment, roll cage, carbon fiber rear wing, 22-gallon fuel cell, TGRNA designed MacPherson strut, Stratasys custom bodywork, a TGRNA designed splitter and more.

The GR Cup will also offer participants $1 million in total purse and prizes, the sanctioning body said.
