Seven Georgia and Virginia HROT Teams Qualify for Championship

Seven teams qualified at The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge’s fifth event of the season for the 2018 Dual National Championship. The event was held March 31 at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, North Carolina, and 11 teams fielded by four schools in Georgia and Virginia competed.

At the playoffs, the teams will have a chance to win thousands of dollars in college scholarships at the SEMA Show and the PRI Show.

Forsyth Central High School of Cumming, Georgia fielded six teams total with five qualifying for the playoffs and the sixth missing out by 50 seconds. Team RHS Heads placed second with a time of 21:18 and Team Allstar Performance placed third with a time of 24:57. Teams Moroso, Scat and McLeod Racing all qualified with times of 26:31, 31:20 and 32:42, respectively.

The Forsyth Central High School automotive program is led by Marlo Miranda, who said he has had 300 students in the program, and of those, 45 have been on Hot Rodders of Tomorrow engine teams. Miranda also stated that 26 of his past engine team students went on to a tech college, and about 90 to 95 percent of the students took advantage of the scholarships they won.

The first place team overall was Team Vibrant Performance of Burton Center for Arts & Tech in Salem, Virginia with a time of 19:17 (Team Vibrant had already qualified at the Summit AutoRama with a 18:12 time). Team MagnaFlow, also from Burton Center for Arts & Tech, qualified with a time of 26:04. Americus Sumter High School in Americus, Georgia fielded two teams and has one going to the playoffs-Team Aeromotive, who qualified with a time of 32:35.
