REDI—an Austin, Texas-based company that develops vehicle readiness products—announced that automotive aftermarket executive Michael Timmons has joined the company as vice president of sales & marketing. Timmons joins REDI as the company enters its next phase of growth, expanding its presence across automotive, powersports, outdoor and other markets where preparedness is part of the experience, company officials stated in a press release.
REDI was created around the observation that traditional emergency kits, tools and first-aid products were designed for a basic range of situations. REDI takes a scenario-specific approach, developing purpose-built readiness systems designed around how people live, travel and explore, the release noted. From its flagship Roadie system to specialized trauma, everyday essentials, portable power and refill solutions, REDI is building an ecosystem designed to keep people prepared for the unexpected. Its products are engineered in-house and designed and made in Austin, Texas.
“REDI was never meant to be just another first-aid kit,” said David Baillargeon, CEO of REDI. “We saw an opportunity to rethink the entire category and create products that people actually want to have with them—products that are thoughtfully designed, easy to use and relevant to real life. Michael understands that opportunity and brings the sales, marketing and industry experience to help us take REDI to the next level.”
Aftermarket Experience Across Channels
Timmons brings extensive experience across the automotive aftermarket, with a background spanning sales, marketing, distribution, retail, OEM and direct-to-consumer channels. His work has focused on helping companies move beyond traditional product- and parts-driven models toward integrated brands and growth strategies.
“REDI is building something that I believe is much bigger than a kit,” said Timmons. “The opportunity is to change the way people think about preparedness. REDI has already built the foundation. My role is to help bring that story to more people, build the right partnerships and expand the brand into markets where being prepared is part of the lifestyle.”
Preparedness in Automotive & Powersports
That opportunity is particularly relevant in the automotive and powersports markets, where consumers routinely travel farther, explore more remote places and invest heavily in the equipment that helps them do it, the company said. REDI believes preparedness should be considered part of that equation, not an afterthought.
Expanding Beyond Direct-to-Consumer Sales
Timmons’ appointment also comes as REDI continues to develop its business beyond direct-to-consumer sales, including custom programs, wholesale relationships and opportunities to integrate readiness into vehicles, brands and consumer experiences.
“People have become used to buying a first-aid kit and throwing it in the back of the vehicle,” said Timmons. “We think the category can be much more intentional than that. REDI is about creating a system around preparedness and making that system something people understand, use and ultimately want to be part of.”
Timmons will lead REDI’s sales and marketing efforts as the company continues to build its brand, expand strategic partnerships and bring its readiness platform to new markets.
