Petersen Museum to Give Live Virtual Tour

As part of its Giving Tuesday fundraiser on Dec. 1, the Petersen Automotive Museum will stream a two-hour-long, live tour of its exhibits and The Vault Presented by Hagerty. Viewers are encouraged to tune in to the live event and donate; the museum will use the donations to preserve its collection, support the community with free programming and produce additional digital content during its closure.

Every dollar will be matched up to $10,000, the museum said, and donors Ron and Andrea Hein will match gifts of all sizes.

Although it has been closed for most of the year, the museum has continued to launch exhibits digitally. New exhibits include a 30-plus-vehicle supercar exhibit titled “Supercars: A Century of Spectacle and Speed”; an off-roading exhibit titled “Extreme Conditions”; and an all-Porsche display titled “Redefining Performance.”

“As we approach 2021, we are eager to continue our pivot to digital and share our automotive passion with a global audience,” said Petersen Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “Although we have faced many challenges this year, we are excited to offer a virtual tour that will not only provide families with entertainment during the holiday season but also help us continue our mission. The support of our community through this time has helped make this pivot possible.”
