DEF is a mixture of high purity synthetic urea and deionized water that is used in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems in diesel vehicles. DEF is not a fuel or fuel additive. It’s injected into the exhaust stream and passed over a catalyst to help convert nitrogen oxides into nitrogen gas and water vapor, two harmless and natural components of the air we breathe, Peak said.
According to the manufacturer, BlueDEF conforms to the ISO-22241-1 specification, and is an American Petroluem Institute (API) certified diesel exhaust fluid. It is also compatible with all diesel SCR systems, and the non-toxic, non-flammable formula makes handling safe and easy, Peak said.
Meyer Distributing currently has Peak BlueDEF available in 2.5-gallon containers.
