The Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI) and the Monterey Motorsports Festival (MMF) have announced a collaboration to promote Italian historic motoring during Monterey Car Week. As an expression of “Made in Italy,” the cultural significance of Italian motoring will be celebrated at Monterey Car Week.
Founded by Paolo Manca, an Italian entrepreneur operating in Monterey County for 20 years, the MMF takes place on Saturday, Aug. 17, and will offer the public a chance to see legends of the two- and four-wheeled motorsports scene.
“Our event is open to all brands, of all nationalities, and it is natural that Italy plays a leading role because of its historical and current heritage as a protagonist in terms of design and for its creation of true works of art,” said Paolo Manca, president of the Monterey Motorsports Festival.
Alberto Scuro, ASI president, adds: “ASI promotes historic motoring and ‘Made in Italy’ abroad, where there are many fans of our brands and our history. We have identified the Monterey Motorsports Festival as an event with a great potential to initiate a series of activities promoting initiatives and become a showcase for Made in Italy historic motoring.”
The collaboration between ASI and MMF was signed at the inauguration of the exhibition “The Sculptors of Speed,” located at the headquarters of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy in Rome. Signing the partnership were Alberto Scuro and Raffaello Porro, director of marketing and communications of the MMF, who comments: “I thank President Scuro for his trust in our ability to lay the groundwork for a winning collaboration that benefits both entities: fans of Italian historic motoring and Made in Italy.”
