Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels is heading back to one of the toughest test of off-road skill, the annual King of the Hammers event, with its partners from GenRight Off Road.
Mickey Thompson will provide competition Baja Boss X tires, pit support and encouragement for GenRight’s father-and-son racing duo of Tony and Jordan Pellegrino.
The Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels Baja Boss X is a competition version of its Baja Boss tire with a race compound for off-road use only. Introduced this year, it is initially available in two sizes – 37×12.50R17LT and 40×13.50R17LT.
“It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for another go-round at King of the Hammers, but we’re as excited as ever to be returning to Johnson Valley with our friends from GenRight Off Road,” said Ken Warner, vice president of marketing for Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels. “This is the ultimate test for competition tires, and we can’t wait to show what the Baja Boss X can do.”
For 2020, GenRight team owner Tony Pellegrino will race alongside son Jordan in the Ultra4 4400 class, but in the newly updated flagship GenRight Jeep Wrangler JKU nicknamed the Terremoto.
“The Terremoto has been wheeled hard since we completed the build in 2013, including 102 trails across the country in 2019, so why not race it?” Tony asks. “I think the Terremoto will finish the race within the time limit. Ideally, a top-10 finish is what we are shooting for.”
King of the Hammers will be held Jan. 31-Feb. 9 in Johnson Valley, California. The festivities include racing, entertainment, manufacturer displays and more.
