Meyer Distributing has announced a new partnership with BBS Wheels.
BBS was founded in 1970 by Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand in the town of Schiltach, located in the Black Forest of Germany. As amateur racers looking for performance gains on the racetrack, they built fiberglass body panels to initially reduce weight. Their focus later went to unsprung weight with the development of their first 3-piece wheel. This positioned the company in the motorsport sector, gaining the attention of factory racers like BMW.
From Racetrack to Road
The company continued to steadily expand to road wheels. In 1983, they introduced the 3-piece “RS” design that became and remains an icon in the wheel industry, company officials said in a press release. Performance and technology remain the driving force at BBS: “Technology Through Motorsports” is still the company motto.
Today, BBS is owned by KW Automotive Group and continues to push the boundaries of the company with the introduction of BBS Truck Series Off-Road wheels, noted the release.
