Mavix Community Outreach Expands 2023 Foster Care Program

Mavix Community Outreach, a not-for-profit that helps and educates children in foster care through motorsports, has revealed new details around its 2023 program, the organization announced.

An increase from its previous two events, Maxvix will expand its program schedule to host four events at Irwindale Dragstrip in 2023, the organization said. Additionally, the organization was named the charity of the month for the CAL RODS Car Club for February.

“Thanks to a large, private donation, we are able to offer an expanded program for 2023,” said Kelly Anderson, Mavix founder. “In 2022, we began with a limited program inviting foster children and their families to come to the races at Irwindale Dragstrip, California. Our goal is to show the children that there are career opportunities and indeed fulfilling life paths to be found in the racing community.”

“California has more than 65,000 children in foster care,” said Mavix co-founder Maria Marcelina, “and there are more than 430,000 in the whole country. Less than half of those California children will be adopted. Less than half graduate high school and half of those who have aged out of foster care end up homeless or incarcerated. In a small way, we hope to change those statistics.”
