Aftermarket tool company Intercomp is celebrating Denny Hamlin’s win at the 2020 Daytona 500.
Hamlin, in his No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry, edged out Ryan Blaney by 0.014 seconds on Feb. 17 to score back-to-back Daytona 500 victories. It has been 25 years since a driver won the race in consecutive years, going back to Sterling Marlin’s wins in 1994 and 1995.
Hamlin’s win comes on the heels of an emotional 2019 Daytona win, dedicated to J.D. Gibbs, and a season where Hamlin finished fourth in the driver standings.
Like many top-level racing organizations from around the world, JGR is a longtime user of Intercomp products, including its RFX Wireless racing scales and digital air gauges.
“We are extremely proud to know that Intercomp was able to help JGR achieve something exceptional in NASCAR history,” said Bill Kroll, Intercomp president. “Like many of the teams and organizations with which we work, JGR is committed to excellence at every level. That mindset is the same approach that we continue to promote at Intercomp, which results in quality products and service that exceed the expectations of our customers.”
With his third career Daytona 500 win, Hamlin becomes only the fourth driver to notch back-to-back wins in NASCAR’s biggest event. The list includes Richard Petty winning in 1973 and 1974, Cale Yarborough in 1983 and 1984, and Marlin.
“I just feel like I’m a student to the game. I never stop learning and trying to figure out where I need to put myself at the right time,” Hamlin said. “We’ve defied the odds here in the last eight years or so in the Daytona 500, but I just trust my instincts and so far they’ve been good for me.”
