According to a new report from Car & Driver, Hyundai has revealed its RN24 “rolling lab” test car. The new test vehicle is a Ioniq 5 N that has had its wheelbase shortened by 15 inches.
The new RN24 is also designed to help test electric powertrain noises, utilizing the rear fenders as soundboxes. The model also utilizes parts from various other Hyundai models including an Electra Touring Car rear wing, AWD from the i20 WRC car and and electric hand brake.
The newly revealed test vehicle joins a lineup of previous rolling lab cars including the Veloster based RM19 and Ioniq6 based RN22e. The rolling labs are intended to help bridge the gap between motorsport vehicles and road going production cars.
