H&H Classics’ auction at Kelham Hall will include classic, collector and performance motorcars estimated at more than $9.4 million (£7 million), making it one of the highest-valued catalogs for the auction house in recent years, according to a press release. The auction of 176 cars, containing 20 lots with six-figure estimates, takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 23. The auction also includes around 70 lots of automobilia.
“The sheer quality and value of classics being offered for auction at Kelham Hall is quite incredible,” said James McWilliam, sales manager at H&H Classics. “A wide variety of automobilia items, plus one very special lot steeped in history, also makes it a sale not to be missed.”
Notable Lots Going Under the Hammer
Among the oldest of the car entries is a 1913 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Silver Ghost Colonial Landaulette, estimated at $321,000-$375,000 (£240,000-£280,000). It is one of around 18 survivors with formal Landaulette coachwork by Barker. It has been wonderfully maintained and took part in the Lord Mayor’s Show in London a few years ago.
A 1967 Aston Martin DB6, in current ownership for 37 years and the subject of a comprehensive restoration, is also up for auction. It has been given a guide price of $188,000-$214,000 (£140,000-£160,000) and has a Heritage Certificate issued by The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.
A 1962 Jaguar Mk. II 3.8 Coombs is also going under the hammer. Given a guide price of $174,000-$214,000 (£130,000-£160,000), it was converted by Coombs as its demonstrator and often run using the famous “BUY 1” registration. It has also been extensively restored to a factory-correct condition.
A 1956 Bentley S1 “Lightweight” Saloon by H.J. Mulliner is one of just 12 aluminum-bodied examples, which has benefited from restorative work costing much more than $134,000 (£100,000). It has been given a guide price of $121,000-$147,000 (£90,000-£110,000).
Estimated at $107,000-$134,000 (£80,000-£100,000), one of the rarest models being auctioned is a c.2006 AC Cobra MK. V, believed to be one of just five built and the sole pre-production example built in Britain, fitted with a 4.6-liter Ford Mustang V-8 engine.
