Hankook Tire & Technology served as the exclusive tire supplier and official technical partner of the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix, part of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The event, held on February 14 -15 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marked this season’s first night race and double-header, featuring Rounds 3 and 4. The GEN3 Evo iON Race—Hankook’s advanced Formula E racing tire—supported 22 drivers from 11 teams as they navigated the challenging circuit’s narrow high-speed straights and 19 technical corners.
In this event, Maximilian Günther (DS PENSKE) and Oliver Rowland (Nissan Formula E Team) claimed victories in Rounds 3 and 4, respectively. The competition has intensified with Rowland now leading the drivers’ championship with 68 points, while the Nissan Formula E Team powers ahead in the teams’ championship with their Nissan powertrain.
When speaking of the GEN3 Evo iON Race Tire, Günther said, “The tire demonstrated outstanding grip and handling performance optimized for the new race car, even under extreme driving conditions. Its high-level performance allowed us to finish the race stably and competitively until the end.”
Formula E Season 11 has completed four rounds, starting with the season opener in São Paulo and concluding with the Jeddah races. The championship continues with Round 5, the 2025 Miami E-Prix, scheduled for April 12 in Miami, Florida.
Beyond the racetrack, Hankook plans to continue strengthening its position in the EV tire market through partnerships with leading automakers, including Porsche, BMW and Audi.
Rally Sweden: Round 2 of the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship
Hankook Tire has also concluded Round 2 of the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) with Rally Sweden. The company was the exclusive tire supplier for the rally competition, sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
Held from February 13-16 in Umeå, Sweden, Rally Sweden is the only WRC event that runs entirely on snow and ice, presenting a unique challenge for both drivers and tires. With temperatures often plummeting below -25 degrees Celsius, exceptional grip and stability in extreme cold are critical for optimal performance, underscoring the importance of Hankook’s advanced winter rally tire technology, according to a press release.
Competing vehicles were outfitted with Hankook Tire’s Winter i*Pike SR10W for the extreme winter rally, featuring specialized stud pins engineered for maximum traction on icy surfaces. According to Hankook, these advanced tires deliver outstanding braking power and stability, exhibiting balanced performance even in the most challenging conditions.
Toyota GAZOO Racing World Rally Team’s Elfyn Evans and co-driver Scott Martin claimed victory in the WRC1 class at this year’s Rally Sweden. Building on their strong runner-up finish at the season-opening Rallye Monte Carlo, the duo moved up to the top spot in the championship standings with a total of 61 points. This result solidifies their position in the highly competitive rally for the season’s Driver’s Championship title.
Beginning with the 2025 season, Hankook Tire will serve as the exclusive tire supplier for all WRC classes for the next three years. The 2025 WRC season spans 14 rounds across 16 countries, covering Europe, Africa, South America and Asia. The championship’s third round, Safari Rally Kenya, will take place from March 20-23 in Naivasha, Kenya. Renowned for its demanding terrain, this iconic rally will test drivers to their limits as they tackle unpredictable stages that unfold against the backdrop of Africa’s vast wilderness, battling intense heat and extreme humidity.
