Friends of Laguna Seca Assumes Management of the Raceway

Friends of Laguna Seca has satisfied all conditions required by the concession agreement with the County of Monterey and will now formally assume its long-term commitment to Laguna Seca Raceway and Recreation Area.

This marks a milestone for the non-profit, as Friends of Laguna Seca officially begins its 55-year operational plan of the Laguna Seca Raceway and Recreation Area, driven by its mission to provide the leadership and resources required to restore, revitalize and reinvent Laguna Seca, officials stated.

“The Friends team has been focused on reaching this important milestone and providing a smooth transition of operations,” said Friends CEO Lauri Eberhart. “This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our volunteer board of directors, passionate donors, and the entire staff at WeatherTech Raceway at Laguna Seca. We now begin the next chapter in the amazing future of this iconic facility for the benefit of our local community and the motorsports world.”

Looking ahead, Friends will continue to work collaboratively with the dedicated staff and volunteers of the Laguna Seca Raceway and Recreation Area, A&D Narigi, and the County of Monterey to ensure the long-term growth and success of this community asset, while maintaining and enhancing the facility’s long history of volunteerism and community engagement.

The non-profit will host an official ribbon cutting ceremony and press conference at noon on Thursday, Aug. 15, at WeatherTech Raceway at Laguna Seca.
