According to a new report from Motor1, Ford has reportedly told dealers to prepare for new Mustang models, including all-wheel drive and four-door models. The news comes on the heels of a recent announcement that Ford wants to position the sports car in a similar vein to Porsche and its 911, offering a wide array of models from off-roaders to track-specific supercars.
Both Mustang models are expected to be powered by internal combustion engines. The news comes as other American brands like Dodge and Chevrolet pull back on their muscle car offerings.
Ford hopes the push will help to reinvigorate excitement around the model and help bolster the lacking sales of the electric Mustang Mach-E, according to the report. The new models will join the recently announced Mustang GTD in the growing lineup.
