Specially designed headers by Kooks Headers & Exhaust are featured on the new, limited production 50th Anniversary Mustang Cobra Jet.
The 2018 Cobra Jet is capable of an 8.5 second ¼-mile at 150 mph, making it the quickest Mustang ever produced.
“The staff at Kooks are extremely proud to be featured on such a historic vehicle,” said Chris Clark, vice president of sales and marketing. “We’re all about performance, quality, and being American made, themes exemplified by Ford’s new Cobra Jet. Plus, we just like to go fast.
“It was a fun experience to develop a new product with Ford,” Clark added.
Kooks currently offers headers for the 2008-’12, 2011-’14 and 2015-’17 Cobra Jets.
“From the very first Mustang Cobra Jets dominating the 1968 NHRA Winternationals to our modern-day racers, the Ford Performance Parts team continues to build on Cobra Jet’s success at the track over five decades,” said Eric Cin, global director of Ford Performance Parts. “This has inspired generations of Mustang fans to create their own performance machines for the street.”
The Cobra Jet is powered by a specially-built 5.2-liter engine, based off the 5-liter V-8, and outfitted with a 3-liter Whipple supercharger. The Mustang hooks up thanks to a four-link rear suspension with a panhard bar, along with adjustable coil-over shocks and a solid 9-inch rear axle. The rear axle features a Strange Engineering low-drag brake system.
This Cobra Jet pays homage to the original, which debuted at the 1968 NHRA Winternationals, with a limited production of 68 cars.
