Lane Automotive has congratulated Stevensville, Michigan-based Lakeshore High School for its efforts at the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow competition at the SEMA Show last week in Las Vegas. During the competition, the team competed in an engine building competition against other schools from across the U.S. After three runs, as well as a written test, the team from Lakeshore High school was ranked No. 1 among the 27 qualifying teams.

The team’s efforts will be rewarded with a spot in the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Elite Eight that will compete for the top college scholarships on Dec. 8-9 at the PRI Show in Indianapolis.

The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow competition this year will award scholarships from the School of Automotive Machinists and Technology, Universal Technical Institute, Ohio Technical College and WyoTech to qualifying students that are worth $5.5 million.

Along with the Elite Eight, the top 50 teams in this years’ competition have all qualified for a scholarship. The schools at the Indianapolis competition will be vying for the largest support that will range from $6,500 to $10,000 per student competitor.

“Lane Automotive would like to congratulate all the school’s that have competed this year and look forward to another strong competition next month in Indy,” according to the company in a news release.
