Now in its third year, Channellock has announced the details of its Trade School Trade-Up Competition and the new Trade Travelers tour.
Students in automotive trades, as well as plumbing, HVAC, welding and electrical trades are eligible to participate in the competition, which offers a classroom makeover, Channellock tools and a cash prize to the winning program.
To submit an entry, students must create a short film demonstrating their skills and explain why their program deserves a classroom makeover.
“In light of the growing skills gap, it is important that we find passionate, hardworking students in our younger generations to join skilled trades,” said Ryan DeArment, vice-president of sales and marketing for Channellock. “This unique competition offers students the opportunity to showcase the value of their education as they train for their future careers.”
The submission period began on Jan. 2 and will close on Feb. 12. A week later, three finalist will be announced, leading to a Facebook vote from Feb. 20-22. The winner will be announced Feb. 23.
Second and Third place finishers will also receive Channellock tools and a cash prize.
Later this year, Channellock will kick off its first ever Trade Travelers Tour, a campaign to visit top trade schools across the country. The tour will begin in Channellock’s hometown of Meadville, Pennsylvania, at the Crawford County Career and Technical Center, then travel to leading trade schools across the country, ending with a grand finale celebration at the spring Trade School Trade-Up winner’s school.
