Bring a Trailer has announced the auction of a rare, one-owner 1989 Dodge Shelby Dakota pickup. The Shelby Dakota is one of just 1,500 examples built for the one-year-only model run. The auction is live and ends on Aug. 12.
The Shelby Dakota models featured a short-wheelbase, short-bed, standard-cab design with a 5.2L V8 and throttle-body injection.
The sport truck featured unique touches to the model like special graphics, front air dam, wheel arch extensions and bed buttresses.
Inside, the model features Shelby-print vinyl and velour seats, air conditioning and a sliding rear window.
Of the 1,500 examples produced, just 540 were offered in white, making this an especially rare example. At the time of auction the odometer shows just over 11,031 miles. A plaque mounted on the dash notes the Shelby was car #983 in the production run.
