Bring a Trailer has announced the auction of a rare 2021 McLaren Elva. The mid-engine sports car is the lightest road car ever produced by McLaren thanks to carbon fiber bodywork and an open air design which lacks a windshield. The auction ends on Aug. 2.
The model was designed to harken back to the racing McLaren cars of the early 1960s, and designed to offer a unique sensory experience. The hypercar is intended to be the fifth car in the McLaren Ultimate Series following the F1, P1, Senna and Speedtail.
The Elva is car No.67 of the 149 cars as noted on a plaque in the driver’s doorjamb. The hypercar features a twin-turbocharged DOHC 4.0L V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft offering 804 hp and 590 lb/ft of torque. This highly specialized vehicle offers McLaren’s Active Air Management System which channels wind from the front of the car to an air curtain in place of a windshield to create a quieter and calmer air pocket around the passengers.
The McLaren Orange bodywork is fitted with navy blue interior and orange stitching. At the time of auction, the car shows just over 837 documented miles. The winning bidder will also receive a pair of Bell helmets for operating the vehicle.
