At an event that took place at the end of January at Revel Surf Park in Arizona, professional off-road racer Blake Wilkey made history by jumping his trophy truck 214 feet, setting a new world record. The extreme jump demanded extraordinary performance, strength and reliability, which is why Blake chose XCOMP 40×13.5×17 XT tires for this incredible feat, company officials stated in a press release.
Hailing from San Diego, California, Blake Wilkey shares his SoCal racing culture with the world through his 281,000-plus Instagram followers. He builds all his vehicles out of his home garage and competes in multiple off-road classes, including Class 11, Trophy Truck, and UTV.
Beetles & Sharks
His love for Volkswagen Beetles is shown in his trophy truck, as it shares the same shape as a VW Beetle. Wilkey names all his race vehicles after sharks, such as “Mako,” “Blood Shark,” “Thresher,” and “Megladon.” He calls his trophy truck that made the record-breaking jump, “Jaws.”
XCOMP says this landmark achievement, captured and shared by GoPro and a host of partners, marks an unforgettable milestone for the entire XCOMP community and showcases the innovation driving the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries in off-road performance.
