The Slip-On Line Exhaust System is constructed from lightweight high-grade titanium and finished with hand-crafted carbon fiber tailpipes to offer weight savings and a unique finish, the company said. Akrapovič engineers developed this system to produce an increase 9.7 horsepower at 2,450 RPM and 15.1 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,450 RPM over the factory unit and delivers its soundtrack through the use of special parts fitted in the system.
Whereas the factory system utilizes a single valve, Akrapovič has incorporated two valves to help tailor the sound, the company said. Additionally, two acoustic reflectors are fitted on the tailpipes to guide the sound into the car’s cabin and change the driving experience, Akrapovič engineers said. A TNG controller is included with the system to activate the second valve. The Slip-On Line Exhaust System also features two resonators, one on each side of the central muffler, to further refine the sound. The optional Akrapovič Sound Kit further provides complete control over the spectrum of sound emitted from the Slip-On Line system. An extra stock valve actuator (BMW part number 18 30 8 686 640) is needed when installing the Slip-On exhaust system on BMW M240i (G42).
