AAA has released its annual EV Consumer Sentiment Survey, which surveys Americans to examine attitudes toward electric vehicles (EV) adoption.
While the new report notes that many Americans still are concerned about cost, lack of charging stations and range anxiety, the survey also shows Millennials are much more likely to buy a full EV than Gen X or Baby Boomers.
The report also shows a drop in likelihood of buying an EV. Last year the report noted that 23% of those surveyed would be likely or very likely to buy a full EV; this year that same question garnered an 18% response.
Those who were interested in buying an electric vehicle often preferred buying new, and 58% of interested people would look only look at new vehicles, while 26% said they would purchase a used electric.
Experts stated that the drop in EV buying may be in part to early adoption. Many people that wanted an electric early on have had the chance to buy into one of the various electric offerings.
