KPI — October 2022: Recent Vehicle Recalls

2021-2022 Mercedes GLS SUVs

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 60,000 Mercedes GLS full-size SUVs are being recalled. Affected models include 2021 AMG GLS63s and model-year 2020-2022 GLS450s and GLS580s.

The Problem: The third-row seatback lock may not restrain occupants as intended, thereby increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the third-row seatback for free and as necessary. Mercedes will begin notifying owners on Nov. 29.

2017-2018 Dodge Journey SUVs

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 83,500 model-year 2017-2018 Dodge Journey SUVs are being recalled.

The Problem: The amber-colored side reflex reflector located within the headlight may not appear bright enough, which could reduce or prevent the vehicle’s visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.

The Fix: A proper remedy is currently under development, but parent company Stellantis will begin notifying owners on Nov. 8.

2020-2021 Cadillac and GMC Models

Vehicles Affected: More than 95,000 model-year 2020-2021 Cadillac XT5s and XT6s and GMC Acadias equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature are being recalled.

The Problem: The rearview camera coaxial cable connectors may have been crimped improperly, causing the rearview camera to fail or function intermittently. Reduced visibility from the failing camera view can increase the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the coaxial cables for free, as necessary. Cadillac and GMC parent automaker GM will begin notifying owners on Nov. 7.

2022-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and 2022 F-150

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 86,000 model-year 2022-2023 Bronco Sport SUVs and model-year 2022 F-150 pickups are being recalled.

The Problem: The LED parking lights may flicker when the headlights are activated, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace or reprogram the LED driver module for free, as necessary. Owners will be notified starting Oct. 31.

2016-2023 Kia Sorento and Sportage SUVs

Vehicles Affected: Nearly 71,000 model-year 2016-2022 Kia Sorentos, model-year 2021-2023 Sorento Hybrids, model-year 2022-2023 Sorento PHEVs and model-year 2017-2022 Sportages are being recalled.

The Problem: These models are equipped with a tow hitch harness in question. Debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire and increase the risk of injury.

The Fix: A proper remedy is currently under development. For the time being, owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the repair is completed. Kia will begin notifying owners on Nov. 14.

Tesla Model 3/Y/S/X

Vehicles Affected: More than one million Teslas are being recalled, including 2017-2022 Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y and 2021-2022 Model S and Model X.

The Problem: The window automatic reversal system (power windows) may not react correctly after detecting an obstruction, thereby exerting excessive force and pinching an occupant before retracting.

The Fix: Tesla will perform an over-the-air software update for free to fix this issue. The automaker will begin notifying owners Nov. 15.
