2024 Tesla Cybertruck

Vehicles Affected: Tesla is recalling approximately 2,400 model-year 2024 Cybertrucks.

The Problem: According to the automaker, the vehicle may be impacted by a defect in the drive inverter—a component that receives driver inputs via a drive control unit. The faulty inverter may cause a loss of drive power to the wheels, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Tesla will replace the drive inverter as necessary and at no cost to the owner. The automaker will begin notifying owners on Jan. 4, 2025.

GM Recalls Nearly a Half-Million Trucks & SUVs

Vehicles Affected: GM is recalling approximately 462,000 trucks and SUVs, including diesel-equipped variants of model-year 2020-22 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups. In addition, model-year 2021 Cadillac Escalades and Escalade ESVs, Chevrolet Suburbans and Tahoes, plus GMC Yukons and Yukon XLs, are being recalled as well.

The Problem: According to the automaker, the transmission control valve may fail and cause the rear wheels to lock up, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will install new transmission control module software as necessary. GM will provide a special program to cover the repair of transmissions identified by the remedy software as containing a defective valve. GM will begin notifying owners on Dec. 9, 2024.

2018-19 Dodge Durango & Jeep Grand Cherokee

Vehicles Affected: Parent company Stellantis is recalling approximately 206,500 model-year 2018-19 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs.

The Problem: According to the automaker, there is a malfunction in the antilock brake system module, which may incorrectly illuminate the brake lights and disable the ABS and electronic stability control. In addition, the driver may be able to start and shift out of Park without the brake pedal being applied. As noted by Cars.com, a vehicle that can be started and shifted out of Park without applying the brake pedal can result in a rollaway, while disabled ABS and electronic stability control can reduce handling. Brake lights that incorrectly illuminate can fail to show a driver’s intentions to those behind.

The Fix: The fix is currently under development. Stellantis will begin notifying owners on Dec. 5, 2024.

2024-25 Mazda CX-90 & CX-70

Vehicles Affected: Mazda is recalling approximately 81,000 vehicles, including model-year 2024-25 CX-90s and model-year 2025 CX-70s equipped with a dash electrical supply unit.

The Problem: According to the automaker, the vehicle’s defroster, seat belt warning and 360-degree camera system functions, as well as the plug-in hybrid high-voltage battery-cooling system, may not function properly during startup.

The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the dash ESU with improved software as necessary and at no cost to the owner. Mazda will begin notifying owners on Dec. 30, 2024.

2023-24 Ford F-250s, F-350s & F-450s

Vehicles Affected: Ford is recalling more than 24,900 Super Duty pickup trucks, including model-year 2023-24 F-250s, F-350s and F-450s.

The Problem: Water may enter the Tailgate Park Assist Sensor Interface Module, causing the rearview camera image to appear blue or black or glitch intermittently. A lack of a rearview camera image can impede driver visibility, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the tailgate top camera, wire harness and module, plus update the software as necessary and at no cost to the owner. Ford will begin notifying owners on Dec. 9, 2024.
