Bring a Trailer Auctions ‘Double Bubble’ Ridler Award Finalist

Bring a Trailer is auctioning a custom 1961 Chevy Impala Two-Door “Double Bubble” Station Wagon. The highly customized project was a finalist for the 2016 Ridler Award and won a Pirelli Great 8 Award at the 2016 Detroit Autorama.

The “Double Bubble” was built by Greening Auto Company of Cullman, Alabama. Power comes from a 473-ci V8 with an individual throttle body setup. The engine is mounted to a TREMEC 5-speed manual transmission with a 9-inch rear end and Detroit Locker differential.

Body modifications to the Impala include a 3-inch chop to the roofline, shooting brake bodywork, raked windshield, modified fenders, and custom rear hatch. The custom rides on an Art Morrison chassis and RideTech air springs.

Inside the Impala sports recovered seats from a 1961 Cadillac Eldorado with dark brown leather throughout. Classic instruments gauges and hidden controls for the Vintage-Air climate controls and RideTech systems help the custom keep a vintage look.
