April 1, 2021

Watch conservator of the Petersen Automotive Museum Collection Dana Williamson drag race the Petersen’s 1967 MK III GT40 against automotive influencer Doug DeMuro and his 2005 Ford GT at the Santa Margarita Ranch Drag Strip.

The Petersen’s street-legal 1967 Mk III GT40 is powered by a 306-horsepower, 289-cubic-inch Ford V8 engine coupled to a ZF five-speed manual transmission and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds before hitting a top speed of approximately 165 mph.

Doug DeMuro’s 2005 GT supercar combines the mid-engine configuration of its predecessor with modern performance, comfort and safety features.  The Ford GT features a 550-horsepower, 5.4-liter engine that can accelerate from 0-60 in just 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph.
