VW plans to up its U.S. sales to 800,000 units annually by 2018. It was reported that Volkswagen said its new mid-size sedan will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in 2011.
When the carmaker introduces its latest compact sedan in June, the Mexican-built car will retain the Jetta nameplate, VW confirmed it will retain the Volkswagen Jetta name when it debuts in June 2010. As well, the performance-orientated GLI will continue to be built.
Meanwhile, the VW Tiguan and Volkswagen Eos will receive minor facelifts, the VW Phaeton won’t return to the United States anytime soon.
Volkswagen also has decided to push back the introduction of the redesigned VW Touareg in order to show a sleek notchback coupe concept.
