VOXX Electronics Corp. (VEC) has expanded its CarLink program to include the CarLinkBT Long Range Transmitter.
The new transmitter design communicates via Bluetooth to a smartphone, then to the vehicle using LoRa RF technology to extend its operating range to over one mile without any additional monthly or annual fees, according to the company.
CarLinkBT Long Range offers advanced convenience and security solutions, allowing users access to their vehicle without the use of a traditional remote control transmitter when combined with a Prestige, Code Alarm or Pursuit remote start, security or keyless entry system, according to the company.
The new transmitter concept was developed to eliminate the need to carry additional devices on a keychain.
“The introduction of CarLinkBT has reinvented what remote start systems can now do by transforming a smartphone into a virtual transmitter with no monthly service fees,” said Aron Demers, senior vice president of VEC. “We are excited to continue to introduce innovative telematics products to the remote start market.”
The CarLinkBT Long Range Transmitter (ASCLBTLR) will be available in the summer, he added.
