Team Edelbrock – North Orange County ROP from Anaheim, Calif., took first place at the Division 7 Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge championship, hosted by Edelbrock’s fifth annual Rev’ved Up 4 Kidz charity car show at Vic’s Garage-Edelbrock’s, Torrance, Calif., facility.
The team will represent Division 7 at the national championship engine-build-off at the SEMA Show this fall, according to a press release.
Ten high school auto tech teams participated in the latest build-off. The teams consist of five students and an instructor/coach who battle other schools to see who can tear down and rebuild a small-block Chevy engine the quickest with the fewest mistakes.
The individual schools set standards and guidelines for involvement. Grades, attendance and skill are all part of the making of a team. Through the event, students get an opportunity to showcase their talents and knowledge gained during classroom sessions and workshops.
