C.L.E.A.N. technology is already featured in the Rockford Fosgate’s PUNCH and POWER amplifiers.
“Adjusting your amplifier gain to match the maximum usable output voltage of the audio source is an often misunderstood task,” said David Baker, Rockford Corp. director of electrical engineering. “It is known that accurate gain setting is essential to achieving optimum system performance. With the ability of C.L.E.A.N. to indicate the audio sources maximum capability, the feature serves to quickly and easily answer the question ‘Where do I set my gain?’ Incorporating this technology into our products enhances performance and improves ease-of-use.”
The on-board input/output clipping indicators included with C.L.E.A.N. products allow installers to precisely tune the amplifier to the desired power performance before clipping occurs, thus eliminating speaker-damaging distortion, according to Rockford Fosgate.
The three indicators on the amplifier’s top-mount control boards monitor the exact point of reaching the ideal signal and power level. Once this occurs, a “blue/red” indicator indicates that optimum performance has been achieved, and so once set it never has to be configured again, according to the company.
“The C.L.E.A.N. patent award is a great achievement,” Baker said. “I congratulate all of my Rockford teammates that contributed to an outstanding result.”
