Off-Roaders Need Electronics Too

AAC TriggerAmong the various specialty aftermarket segment combinations, pairing 4×4 and 12-volt accessories may not seem the most likely. But manufacturers and shops have been discovering that off-roaders need electronics too.

From the popularity of light bars and other plug-in accessories to the growing crossover opportunities that powersports represent, electronics installers have been working on an increased number of vehicles headed to the trails.

“Off-road enthusiasts continue to demand LED lighting and other electrical accessories to aid them when traversing extreme terrain and tackling tough elements,” notes Advanced Accessory Concepts, maker of the TRIGGER SIX SHOOTER Wireless Accessory Controller. The product adds convenience to wiring 12- to 24-volt accessories by eliminating the need to run wires under the vehicle dash or through the firewall.

The system’s six solid state channels-including two 30-amp, two 10-amp and two 5-amp solid state circuits-accommodate up to six accessories. The durable, waterproof controller makes it possible to reduce costs when installing LED and conventional lighting, E-lockers, race radios, compressor systems, whips, cooling fans and other accessories popular with the 4×4 crowd.

The accessories can be controlled from inside or outside the vehicle with the RF remote, or with a mobile device using the TRIGGER ACS Plus app for iOS and Android phones or tablets.

“Time saved on installation means more profit for shops and installers, and the ease of installation translates to additional opportunities for new sales in retail scenarios,” the company states.

And shows that electronics and off-road accessories can make a good team.
