A 2014 Audi R8 in September rolled into New Age Autosport in Fort Lee, N.J., to undergo a full restyling job (scroll to bottom for photo gallery). Allen Vivat, owner of the shop, said the car owner arrived looking to change the matte black wrap already installed and also wanted an assortment of other custom upgrades.
“First, we stripped the car back to the factory silver. The OEM gray interior was also still installed,” Vivat said. “The plan was to wrap it in a new Pearl Satin White, and that’s what we did.”
The four-person installation team at New Age Autosport, which is located near the George Washington Bridge leading to New York’s Manhattan Island, worked for a little more than a month on the vehicle. Other custom additions made include repainted caliper covers from black to red, Ansanti wheels, and a Meisterschaft performance exhaust. However, the highlight of the restyle job, with the exception of the new sleek exterior wrap, was the new Ferrari Red custom leather interior installed on the seats, headrests and panels, Vivat said.
New Age Autosport regularly attracts high-end vehicle consumers seeking custom restyling. The enthusiast nature of the clientele means the shop must offer a personal and comprehensive approach to each job.
“When a customer drops off a car, they pretty much know what they’re getting,” Vivat said. “Nothing is ever a surprise here.
“All customers are free to come by to view progress. We want them to be involved because it’s their project-”their car.”
Other recent restyling jobs completed by New Age Autosport include a 2013 BMW X5, Porsche Carrera, Bentley Convertible and Jeep Wrangler.
New Age Autosport opened in 2013 in a facility that includes a 10,000-square-foot, granite-floored showroom, and a conjoining shop with two lifts, and dedicated leather and wood shops. A Ferrari Testarossa is parked in the center of the showroom. The shop provides restyling services ranging between audio, wheels, tires, wraps, interiors and offers other custom accessories.
The shop relies on a strong social media presence and word-of-mouth marketing. Attention to detail and an exceptional dedication to the craft of restyling is what will lead to New Age Autosport’s ultimate success, Vivat said.
“It’s nonstop,” he said. “You wake up you think about work, you go to sleep thinking about work. When you’re dealing with high-end customers, everything has to be on point and be precise-”everything.”
