The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) granted approval of Racepak’s SmartWire for use in the Pro Modified category, adding to the range of competition vehicle categories in which the system may be used.
The SmartWire is a lightweight power distribution module that eliminates fuses and relays, simplifies wiring solutions and gives racers the ability to program how they switch any electronically controlled device in their vehicles, according to Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.-based Racepak.
“The use of SmartWire and the technology it provides will allow racers and chassis builders a more simplified wiring option, as well as a faster and more technically advanced way of switching electronic devices, which can in turn provide benefits in both competitiveness and safety to the vehicle,” said Todd Paton, Racepak’s pro system and sales manager.
In addition to Pro Modified, SmartWire is currently approved for the following NHRA categories: Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and E.T. Brackets. Racepak also provide contingency awards to racers in the categories it is approved for with the exception of E.T. Brackets, according to the company.
