Indianapolis-based Pulse has renewed its support of racing icon Rhys Millen as an associate sponsor.
Pulse, an automotive safety product that helps improve the reaction time of drivers in traffic by creating an attention-getting alert when cars are slowing down or stopping, will join veteran performance driver Millen for the 2013 season, according to a Pulse press release.
“We’re excited entering into our second season with Rhys Millen Racing. This relationship is a great platform for us to build relationships in the new car dealership community and to expose car-enthusiast consumers to our active safety product and messaging,” said Mark Olson, president of Kinetech, the makers of Pulse. “Besides, there’s an implied obligation to come back and defend your championship, and we certainly want to support Rhys in that.”
A Hollywood stunt driver, Red Bull athlete and second-generation Pike’s Peak Hill Climb champion, Millen will fight to preserve his 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb championship title and course record of 09:46:164 during the 2013 season.
In 2012, Millen and Pulse won the overall Pikes Peak championship in a production-based Hyundai Genesis coupe, beating all the unlimited class entries and setting a new world record in the process. For 2013, Millen is building an unlimited class entry, styled after his Hyundai Genesis coupe, in an attempt to extend his domination of the event, the release noted.
In addition to its race team, the Rhys Millen Racing facility in Huntington Beach, Calif., offers a full range of service and aftermarket installation for customers.
“Our team has more than 20 years in the aftermarket performance business, so we’re always looking for partners who share not only our passion for racing, but also for quality, value-added products,” Millen said. “Pulse fits that description perfectly, so we’re excited to have them on our team this season.”
