Proform, Hose Candy, Others Earn SEMA Awards

A Chevy Orange Deluxe Dress-Up Kit for small-block engines from Proform Parts, Roseville, Mich., is among the new products honored at the 2011 SEMA Show with a Global Media Award.

The Global Media Awards are chosen by a voting panel of 25 journalists from leading consumer and trade publications representing 13 countries, according to a press release. SEMA introduced the Global Media Award program in 2004 “to highlight the wide appeal to enthusiasts on every continent of specialty equipment products that are on display at the SEMA Show.”

Other performance aftermarket manufacturers that received 2011 Global Media Awards include Hose Candy, St. George, Utah, which actually received two-one for its new Barb Bite hose retainer kits and another for its Hose Skins that slide over stock or custom hoses for a custom look.

“This is the fourth Global Media Award for our company in three years, and we are honored that the global automotive community continues to recognize our high-quality products, designed to improve the look and performance of under-hood engine compartments,” said Jon Petty, CEO and founder.

CORSA Performance Exhausts, Berea, Ohio, was selected for its for newly designed Diamond Black exhaust tips for the company’s line of premium BMW exhaust systems.

“Our team is committed to delivering high-quality performance exhaust systems for today’s enthusiasts, and we are very proud to be recognized with a Global Media Award by international automotive community leaders,” said Craig R. Kohrs, VP and general manager, TMG Performance Products, parent company of CORSA.

Also receiving an award was Eddie Motorsports, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., for the company’s billet aluminum under-hood kits for 1955-’57 Chevys.

“To say we were mildly surprised would be an understatement,” said Joe Rode, Eddie Motorsports’ COO. “The quality and innovation of the products introduced at SEMA each year is incredible and we are flattered to be considered among the best in 2011.”

STRATTEC Security Corp. received two Global Media Awards for its new BOLT Spare Tire Lock for 1991-current Jeep Wranglers.

“We are committed to meeting the automotive aftermarket needs of drivers worldwide, and are proud that our Jeep Spare Tire Lock was recognized by two different international journalists and the SEMA organization,” said Erika Garcia, sales manager for BOLT. “Our technology offers a solution for Jeep drivers, and works by permanently programming the lock to the Jeep’s ignition key to prevent problems with lost keys and costly lockouts.”

Nelson Racing Engines (NRE), a turbocharger partner of Turbonetics, was honored for its patented NRE Symmetrical Mirror Image Turbochargers.

“NRE started from a clean slate and designed the ultimate twin-turbocharger setup that allows maximum flexibility in packaging and installation,” said Turbonetics in a congratulatory press release.

And finally, Workshop Hero’s Metal Rescue Rust Remover Bath won two of the awards as well.
