Post-SEMA Ride a New Tradition

Nov 19, 2012

For the third consecutive year, a group of SEMA and AAPEX exhibitors and attendees representing high-performance companies took to the highway Nov. 6 for a post-convention ride on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The annual event, named the Sons of Speed 2012 SEMA Ride, this year featured 11 bikes and 15 participants, according to a press release. Scott Wahlstrom, marketing manager with Motor State Distribution, said that the event has grown every year since its establishment.

Wahlstrom, who organized the ride, stated: “It started as a way for a few of us to unwind after the show and see some of the beautiful surrounding countryside. The more we shared stories about our ride, the more others wanted to ride with us.”

The group rode to Zion National Park in Washington, Utah and stopped at for lunch near the park before returning their bikes to Eagle Rider, the release stated.

Companies represented in the ride included: Considine Sales and Marketing; Crane Cams; Marken Performance and Restoration; Motor State Distributing; S&S Cycles; Steve Swanson, Marketing Consultant; Terry McMillen Racing and Wilwood Brakes.

Wahlstrom said he believes the event will continue to grow.

“Many in the group have already shared an interest in not only this event, but perhaps doing other rides,” he said. “We’re looking at a mid-year ride or perhaps a charity ride.”
